January Finishes

 I bought this framed vintage car in an op shop and immediately thought about tearing it out of the frame and making a boys baby quilt out of it. Thank you very much to the maker, whom has painstakingly cross stitched this for me. Colour Inspiration- check, center focus - check , and left over triangles in brights already cut for me. Easy Peasy.. rip up an old sheet and quilt made in two afternoons. Got to be pretty happy with that! I put a running tacking stitch in red to give a little interest in the zigzag. One down , two girl quilts to go!

I riffled through all the bits of printed cottons I had and started whipping up cushions. Some I have crocheted edges to, others left simple.

I have also eco dyed some cloth to get leaf imprints on the fabric . I have then echoed the eco print with either a eucalypti flower or the actual leaf shape.

Hummingbird stamp

I spent a little time printing on Saturday . Repetition work with the Hummingbird stamp and Kim's flower stamp. I managed to print about 1 1/2 meters of material only dropping a stamp once (that really makes me cringe when I do that. generally it means you have to stamp so much more material if you have a specific purpose  in mind...which I did. I thought I would produce some nice bright summer cushions in orange and had sourced some orange pompom trim (not easy to find) to edge the cushions

And next project is to make up some dragonfly cushions from this print, an old lino print I made a few years ago.

Lest We Forget

ANZAC DAY

They shall grow not old

Hummingbird Stamp

A while ago I drew a quick picture of a hummingbird and have since intended to carve it out as a stamp. As usual all things take time and weeks later I finally got round to finding the time to carve it.

Just need to decide on a flower to accompany the bird  and then a printing we will go!
