Wreath making

I am currently working on a wreath for Christmas or spring?? Which ever way it will be a fairly cheery affair with lots of bibs and bobs added. I decided to utilise the card of crochet flowers that Julie from Little Woollie added into my yarny win. I have started to make some of my own now but first i had to wind all that yarn into balls so that they wouldn't tangle..Let me say that took considerable time.
I have been raiding my craft box and am utilising a lot of bits that are left over from other projects (although I  have purchase more clay to make extra yellow flowers..it really is a vicious cycle..utilise the left overs from one project and you have to make more to finish the next- I will have leftovers from this project and it will start all over again! Oh stop whining -  you know you love it! Tomorrow I might show you the sewing basket and other goodies I picked up in the op shop. Toodle Pips, see you soon.

Christmas Wreath

Last weekend I spent some time twisting the vine that has gone wild in the back yard,or at least the strands that I could reach, into wreaths. Collections from my walks have dried and these gum nuts were laying idle, screaming out me to be used. I had some left over stars from last Christmas and some excess flower beads from the necklaces I have made. Put them all together with wire and a hot glue gun and you get a pleasing pop of colour on an otherwise ordinary wreath.

A little more cleaning up of the glue  and maybe a few more gum nuts on the right hand side, some ribbon for hanging and it will be finished.

One down and two more wreaths to go.

This is a wall of a private house near the neighbourhood kindergarten that used to get graffiti all the time....but not anymore.

Wreath - same but different!

 Whilst having a messy table I figured I might as well continue my mess and make up a second wreath. This wreath has a slightly triangular shape and I was running out of seed pods and ribbon. I improvised by picking poppy seed heads out of the garden and using some old chandelier crystal and pearls to fill the  gaps.

 Not enough ribbon to make a tie, so some wire and pearls will suffice. Personally I think this is a waste of pearls but when you don't have a car to jump into you make do - far more environmentally friendly as well. I must admit to jumping into the car on occasion when I have to have a certain item for my craft making and I just can't wait

Better go clean up my mess before picking up my car from the mechanics - my brother, always handy to have a mechanic in the family.

Wreath it is!

I decided that the weed come wreath really is a wreath!

I've grabbed some of my clay snowflakes and wired them onto the wreath. Some time ago (something like a year ago) I collected some seed pods from  a tree at the side of the road. My original intention was to utilize them in flower arranging but they were a little awkward  so since then they have been stashed in the cupboard for whom knows when. That would be now! I gave them a quick brush over with some white paint and hot glued them to my wreath. A roll of silver ribbon and some star anise and voilà you have a wreath !

 Must remove the excess glue! Photographs really highlight all those little things you miss!

Weed or wreath ?

Outside the other day I was considering this invasive plant/ creeper that just loves to piggy back on other plants and then gradually strangle them out.

 Its nearly impossible to get rid of and seems to flourish with vigorous pruning  My neighbour persists in trying to maintain some control, me on the other hand tends to ignore it. Until now.. I was thinking of Christmas and wondered if I would be able to twist it into a wreath. Selecting the green shoots and tearing off the leaves did enable me to twist it off into a wreath shape. Now to let it mature and dry and make a hanging decoration for the door perhaps.

That is about the extent of my weeding efforts.. laugh! The wreath was made by making a few loops of vine and then working in a clock wise fashion pulling the vine over and through the centre until thick enough for my liking. The ends of the vine are tucked into the wreath.
Here is the red-work finished but not yet sewn into anything useful. That will be a weekend job although I will only be having Saturday off between reverting back to my usual shift work.

And an old angel hanging around outside on the back shed, gradually being weathered away but kind of charming in a rustic way

Stay safe

Middleton

I've just had a flying visit to the south coast, Middleton with my sister Diana and the children in tow. Sadly I could only stay for one night but really enjoyed my day down the beach with her. We had fun boogie boarding and I went for a wander along the beach and picked up every scrap of rope that had been washed up by the tide. I then proceeded to make a wreath from rope and sea plants. I also found this really interesting ball of sea twigs which had become tangled with fishing line to make this ball, which we hung from a stick.
I left the wreath at the beach and hope that someone might take it home.

It may be a bit scrappy but was only made from stuff found on the beach
